Members volunteer to raise
funds for scholarships.
The Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island awarded $20,000 in scholarships this year to 13 southern Beaufort County residents, including $5,000 to students attending the Technical College of the Lowcountry.
We are pleased to be able to help these students continue their educational endeavors in higher education through the money our club earned by volunteering members’ time at the annual Heritage of Golf. We donated hundreds of hours to help the tournament by working as bus greeters, fore caddies, bankers and ‘Will Call’ booth operators.
The Hilton Head Island Rotary Club has awarded some 200 scholarships totaling approximately $310,000 to local students since 1977.
This year we will again
volunteer many Rotary hours to earn money for scholarship.
The Final Count Is In
Everyone’s “Bell Ringing” efforts have paid great dividends. The combined efforts of our local Rotary Clubs raised a record
$14,000 this year.Your enthusiasm and time brightened the holidays for almost 5,000 people in our community, of which 2,300 were children. The 10,000 gifts that were purchased with that money made the season just a little merrier for a lot of people.
Interact Club Update
The 2004 Hilton Head High School Interact Club is off to a blazing start with over 70 members who are actively participating in Club Activities. Teacher sponsor Jennifer Weitekamp first led the group in a Rope Course Team Building Event. To date the Club has sponsored a Car Wash and actively participated in the annual Haunted Forest Community Event. All of the funds they raise goes to Rotary Charities. The Hilton Head Prep Interact group is also off to a great start with over 35 members. They too participated in the Haunted Forest. For more information about these clubs, contact Lauren Martel, Director of Youth Services.

4-Way Test Nominations
It is that time of year again when the Rotary Clubs of Hilton Head Island and Bluffton are seeking nominations for our annual “4-Way Test” Business of the Year Award, which recognizes a local business that represents the principles of the Rotary’s 4-Way Test. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The 4-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions:
"Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
